In Matthew chapter 5 and verse 48 we find a command from our Savior that reads: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Then in 4 Manuscript 148, 1902 we find an admonition that says: Christ presents before us the highest perfection of Christian character, which throughout our lifetime we should aim to reach...How can we reach the perfection specified by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ—our Great Teacher? Can we meet His requirement and attain to so lofty a standard? We can, else Christ would not have enjoined us to do so...If we have constant dependence on the merits of our Savior, and walk in His footsteps, we shall be like Him, pure and undefiled…Our Savior does not require impossibilities of any soul. He expects nothing of His disciples that He is not willing to give them grace and strength to perform.”
How close are you from God’s ideal? How much longer do you need to live in order to reach that goal? Probably a thousand years would not be enough. In order to be like our Savior we need to overcome the world as He did. John chapter 16 and verse 33 states: “be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Can we overcome the world as Jesus Christ did? Yes we can, but there is only one way. Would you like to know how?
The first letter of John in chapter 5 and verse 5, the Bible tells us: “Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” If you believe Jesus is anybody else but the Son of God, you cannot overcome the world. But if you believe it in your heart, God will give you the strength to have a character like the one Jesus had.
There is only one way to overcome the world and hence be perfect even as our Father is perfect. Yes, you have to believe Jesus Christ is the only Begotten of the Father. If you do not believe in that divide relationship, you will never reach perfection. I want to be like Jesus. How about you? May the only true God and His Son Jesus Christ bless you abundantly.
